What can I say about this amazing fireplace! It came from a 15th century cottage in Tunbridge Wells, it was owned by an author who actually wrote an article in the 70''s about this fireplace.
I''ve had this fully restored as it was in a bit of a sorry state, there had been damp running down the back and termites a very long time ago, I had all the bad wood routed out and new timber spliced in, the horn for the unicorn was missing so I have one hand carved which was a feat on its own. The side pillars had rotten at the base so I''ve had two new ones made, I still have the originals which the new owner is welcome to. Luckily the front carving of the Lion, Unicorn and middle shield was all in amazing condition for the age
