A copper and brass maritime cabin oil lamp by Davey and Co, in good condition and with the original oil parts. The handle is complete and doesn''t bend to one side - it was photographed leaning against the wall.
It measures 37cm in height and with the handle up it is 47cm, the width at the widest part is 19cm, and it has been professionally polished but not lacquered. The dark patches around the label show the colour before the polish.
The Davey label is on the bottom and it reads:

On the wick holder of the oil lamp the words British Made can be seen clearly on one side and Full Inch on the other.
Davey & Co were established in 1885 and are still going today. They started in Leadenhall St in London then moved to 88 West India Dock Rd where they remained for many years before moving to Essex. They were known for their maritime and mining lamps and later for supplying items to the MOD.
