A fine example of a small antique solid silver butter dish and cover. It is a stylish piece with elegant scrolling decoration and it is good quality, weighing approximately 158g. It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1934 and the maker BPLLC.
What makes this butter dish particularly special is the engraving below the lid ''From one who cannot express enough her deep appreciation & heartfelt thanks. Kay Francis''. The signature is a match to the famous Hollywood actress Kay Francis. Who it was given to I do not know but obviously someone who meant a great deal to her.
It is in good condition for its age. There are no major damages and it displays well. There are some faint surface marks and light surface scratches inside and a small dent in one bottom corner (see photos) but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.
Tracked UK delivery £5, rest of the world £20.
