A Rare Victorian Original Framed Master Builders “ Society Of Bricklayers” Certificate

This remarkably rare survivor is dated 1873 and was awarded to Wiliam Harris from the Droitwich, Worcestershire, branch of the society of bricklayers. A highly honoured association from the industrial Victorian period. This fine and beautifully illustrated large hand coloured steel engraving depict numerous scenes of highly noted building achievements and many illustrations showing the craft of bricklaying being carried out. There is a handwritten title at the bottom listing the craftsmen and all the relevant details of this prestigious award whilst below there is a display of assorted relelvent tools of the trade. This most interesting piece is completely original displayed in a well patinated maple frame and protected with a sheet of hand floated glass. All in good condition with some age related marks. An ideal presentation or display piece for an architect or building company giving a real insight into the art of early construction.
