A very rare Edward VIII mahogany cased double sided fusee clock, likely a GPO or station clock, with painted steel hanging brackets.
The case and movement back plate are both stamped SM&C (for Stockall Marples & Co) 1936 ERVIII and Royal Crown Cypher. Rare to find a double sided fusee clock and even rarer to find an Edward VIII example, the king who was never crowned.
The makers of this clock, Stockall and Marples were suppliers of high precision clocks primarily to the armed forces, the railways and schools, and this being an excellent example.
In stunning showroom condition throughout, the movement professionally cleaned and serviced and sold with a 12 month guarantee. Original key and pendulum.
