A good quality figured oak 8 day longcase clock by George Hoy of York c.1808
 
The good quality case of typical East Yorkshire style, made from finely figured quarter sawn oak, crossbanded with mahogany and boxwood fan inlay. The pagoda topped hood with fan inlay to the centre, surmounted with cast brass finials. The hood door flanked by turned and reeded columns terminating with brass capitals. The oak trunk door crossbanded with mahogany and flanked by reeded canted corners to the trunk sides. The oak box base crossbanded with mahogany, stepped mould, all set on four bracket feet.
 
The beautifully executed arched japanned dial, with Arabic numeral chapter ring and outer Arabic numeral markings to the quarters, subsidiary seconds dial and date zone, signed to the centre Hoy York. The corner spandrels finely decorated with golf leaf and flowers on a green backkground. The dial arch also painted with garlands of flowers and the historically interesting depiction of Lady Hamilton mourning the death of Lord Nelson who had died in battle, Cape Trafalgar, Spain 1805.
 
A fully restored fine quality eight day, four pillar movement, rack striking the hours on a single bell.
 
Beautifully made original brass hands.
 
Original cast iron weights and brass bob pendulum.
