WW2 Waltham military pocket watch, 1942.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 1609, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Waltham name and the serial number 31,476,845 dates it back to 1942.
The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The base metal case was made the Star Watch Case Company. The company was based in Michigan. Mostly a tourist resort town with little industry. It was sold and turned into apartments. It is said that enough gold dust was vacuumed out of the cracks in the floors to pay for the works. The Star Watch Case Company supplied various companies with cases including Elgin, Hamilton, Longines-Wittenauer, Gruen and Waltham. The case has a screw-on bezel and case back. The back of the watch has the GSTP markings with military arrow below.
The acrylic lens has a short 4mm crack at the edge but otherwise is in good condition.
The signed dial is in good condition.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
