A superb giant clam shell with a well defined shape and good colour. With a lifespan of over 100 years, the clams build up layers of shells which makes them very heavy and difficult to date precisely. This shell, from a private collection, is in good condition, there is a small historic repair to one side and some minor chipping to the front edge, the inside surface is smooth and a good colour. An interesting, unusual and decorative object that would enhance any design scheme.
