Antique Victorian Oak Metamorphic Library Step Chair

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors

A lovely metamorphic oak library chair dating from the late Victorian period. Very well made and such a quirky piece of furniture. It''s a simple design with some small carvings on the back rail which gives it a slightly gothic look. The surface of the steps are carpeted to give better grip and save wear to the chair when using it as steps.

It transforms easily in one movement from chair to steps. There is a strong metal latch on the side which holds it in place as both a seat and steps.

Approximate Measurements:

Height as steps : 36'' / 92cm

Height as chair : 36'' / 92cm

Seat width : 16'' / 41cm

Seat depth : 14'' / 36cm

It is in good original condition with a nice patina. The joints have been strengthened and the whole piece is very sturdy. There are some small knocks and minor marks but nothing that concerns us. It displays very well and has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
