A gents 9 carat gold Zenith trench watch.
The watch has a high grade hand-winding movement, calibre 13-2-T which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around three to four minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed with the Zenith name and the serial number dates it back to 1919.
The watch itself measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Birmingham 1919 which ties up nicely with the serial number on the movement. The case was made by the Dennison Watch Case Company in England… in order to avoid expensive duties on precious metals, movements were often imported into the UK to be cased and prepared for onward retail. The case is in good condition with just a little unevenness to the back.
The watch lens is in good condition.
The black dial is in good condition. The numbers originally would have had radium painted detail but this has been removed over the years. The hands have been re-finished.
The watch has a vintage strap, probably the original… it is strong but we can fit a new strap if preferred.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
