Classic Art Deco gilt bronze table lamp by Edgar Brandt circa 1925. The beautifully detailed cobra is depicted rising out of a basket, its neck coiled around the base of the alabaster shade, and looking so menacing with its mouth agape and hood flaring.
Known as ''La Tentation'', this design was made in three sizes - as a table lamp, a floor lamp and also in a size between the two.
Many fakes have been produced over the years but this is the genuine article. Signed E. Brandt on the base and in very good overall condition.
The alabaster shade is marked with a cross but is not otherwise signed.
Height to the top of thre shade is 52 cm.
Rewired and PAT tested.
