Artist Biography:
 
Chevalier Fortunino Matania was born in Naples,Italy in
 
1881 and studied in his artist Father''s studio at a very early age,exhibiting his first painting at the age of 11, and contributed illustrations for Italian periodicals from 1895.
 
When he moved to England he carried on contributing to many publications and became official artist for the coronation of Edward VII. He was also assigned to George V and Queen Mary at the Delhi Durbar (Indian Court).
 
In 1914 he became a war artist and spent much time drawing in the trenches. He was meticulous in his detail and accuracy in his paintings and in their beauty and realism.
 
He exhibited regularly from 1908-1940 at many of the major London Galleries.
