An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique George V English sterling silver table lighter modelled in the form of a hunting horn; an addition to our hunting related silverware collection.
This exceptional antique sterling silver lighter has been realistically modelled in the form of a fox hunting horn.
The swept cylindrical body of this novelty silver straight trumpet is embellished with the original gilding to the lower portion representing the copper bell.
The rim of the bell is encompassed with bands of tooled decoration.
The upper portion of this hunting horn silver lighter is encircled with further bands of tooled decoration and retains the original screw fit mouthpiece; once removed this allows access to the wick.
Such solid silver examples bearing the traditional hunting horn copper effect are rare.
Condition
This impressive antique hunting horn silver lighter is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The original gilding is in excellent condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the lower portion of the horn are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional smoking accessory.
