A pair of miniatures painted on ivory plaques in their original frames, each with accompanying exemption registration. (E6HV5MFW/Q2T8AB34)
 
Lord Nelson (1758-1805) painted on Ivory plaque signed “Ross….? penciled inscription to rear reads “Lord Nelson” with number 238, and Lady Hamilton painted on an ivory plaque signed to front “Dupre” with penciled inscription to rear “Lady Hamilton” and the number 290.
 
14cm High x 11.5cm Wide including the frame.
 
While Nelson was in Naples in 1793 he met the lady who was to become the great love of his life, Emma, Lady Hamilton. She was a great beauty with a voluptuous figure and a rather ‘shady’ past.
